Talent & Skills Connect Community Webinar: Digital & AI

Sector events

Join us online as we explore what is going on in the Digital and AI space and how we can support having the right skills, in the right place, at the right time.

There’s barely a day which goes by where the opportunity, or concern, about AI isn’t featured in the media. We will be considering:

  • How do we ensure we’re growing the right skills to respond to the opportunity, and reduce concerns?
  • How do we ensure we’re supporting businesses and individuals with the right skills- from awareness, to advanced, to specialised?
  • How can having the right skills maximise our innovation capability?
  • This is a space where it’s unlikely that solutions don’t exist, but how we navigate the space to get to the right skills solution can be daunting.

As the first of many conversations in 2025, please join the Innovate UK Talent & Skills Connect community for the first time online and hear from those who specialise in this area.

From 10:00 to 12:00 on Thursday 23rd January, hear from leaders in this sector, as we welcome:

  • Jack Watson, Head of AI Skills, Department for Science, Innovation and Technology
  • Phil Smith, CBE FREng, Chairman of IQE PLC who has chaired the Digital Skills Council since 2017.
  • Dr Matt Forshaw, Senior Adviser for Skills at the Alan Turing Institute. Matt led the development of the AI Skills for Business Competency Framework which was launched in January 2024.

Join us for a high-energy discussion on what is needed to better support this opportunity, now and in the future.
